As I suffered through another inappropriate joke from Uncle Bob, I checked my watch. When the hell can I leave? I was 20 years old. I wanted out. I wanted to extricate from the holiday family gathering. Uncle Bob always creeped me out. But, my mother wouldn’t have it. You stay at least until dessert is served. It’s what you do.
